Modern Animal, a Los Angeles-based veterinary company, will expand into Texas with two facilities planned to launch in Austin and Dallas next summer.
The announcement caps a year of steady growth for Modern Animal, which entered its second market in the San Francisco Bay Area, and welcomed fresh capital of a $75M Series C led by Addition.
Steven Eidelman, founder and chief executive officer of Modern Animal, said in a news release that the company was drawn to Austin and Dallas by the shared set of expectations that these cities have with the hometown of LA around experience and quality of care.
“Like many Californians who made the same move to Texas in the last two years, this second home really feels like a natural fit,” he said.
Dr. Christie Long, vice president of medicine at Modern Animal, said the company is fundamentally re-imagining the way that people work in the industry to bring modern veterinary care to more pet owners while still honoring the boundaries of our care providers.
“We ought to think creatively and leverage technology in new ways, which is a largely untapped area in our profession," she said in the news release.
