Humane org to honor hero dogs

Animal welfare group, American Humane, will host its 11th annual American Humane Hero Dog Awards® program on October 20 at 9 pm EST. The 2-hour program will be hosted by Carson Kressley on the Hallmark Drama channel and is sponsored by the Lois Pope LIFE Foundation.

The event will spotlight working dogs nationwide. The winners include: Millville, New Jersey’s Law Enforcement and Detection Hero Dog of the Year, K-9 Hansel; Shelter Hero Dog of the Year, Deputy Chance, from Cape Coral, Florida; Guide Hero Dog of the Year, Henna, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; SSG Summer, Military Hero Dog of the Year from Mt. Airy, Maryland; Little Man, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma’s Search and Rescue Hero Dog of the Year; Service Hero Dog of the Year, Sobee, of Holt’s Summit, Missouri; and Therapy Hero Dog the Year, Boone, of Hookstown, Pennsylvania.
