The control of reproduction already has its own committee in the WSAVA

The World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) has convened a new committee to ensure that veterinarians worldwide have access to the latest resources and knowledge in reproductive control, a rapidly evolving area. Professor Stefano Romagnoli chairs the Reproduction Control Committee, European Veterinary Specialist in Animal Reproduction (Dipl. ECAR) from the University of Padua in Italy, and member of the Associazione Italiana Veterinary Piccoli Animali. He is composed of experts in the reproduction of all the world.

The new Committee's first step is to survey WSAVA members to explore education and counseling priorities. Then you will get to work creating educational tools and resources.

Stefano Romagnoli, Chairman of the WSAVA Breeding Control Committee

Professor Romagnoli notes: “Giving advice on reproduction or its control and carrying out spaying and neutering procedures often form a large part of a veterinarian's job. Many of our members are also actively involved in large-scale spay and neuter programs. Our goal is to help members make science-based decisions to manage reproduction in their patients while safeguarding animal welfare and supporting the human-companion animal bond. We will provide you with the latest information to help you recommend the most appropriate approach to sterilize your patients. We are also working with the WSAVA Animal Welfare and Welfare Committee to provide a set of minimum standards of care for companion animals submitted for spay and neuter programs."

The committee chaired by Romagnoli includes the following experts: Dr. Kaywalee Chatdarong (Thailand), Dr. Kurt de Cramer (South Africa), Dr. Michelle Kutzler (USA), Dr. Natali Krekeler (Australia), Dr. Rob McCarthy (USA), and Dr. Sabine Schäfer-Somi (Austria).
