Edra Publishing U.S. and its team at Duck & Partners in Québec, Canada, took home top honors at the VETTY Awards, announced January 16 at VMX 2023. The conference, sponsored by the North American Veterinary Community (NAVC), is one of the world’s leading veterinary education conferences.
The VETTY Awards program is the only competition dedicated to recognizing marketing excellence in the animal healthcare industry. Every year, veterinary industry marketing teams and agencies are invited to submit for consideration projects that they produced during that year. Entry divisions include print, advertising, design, event, digital and social media.
Tommaso Albonetti, general manager at Edra Publishing U.S., said the awards highlight the strength of the company’s marketing and communications efforts. “We are proud to be recognized with these VETTY Awards and appreciate the efforts of the NAVC to highlight marketing excellence in the animal healthcare industry,” he said. “Edra’s worldwide prowess in marketing and communications is reflected in these awards, and I applaud the team members who worked hard on these projects for our clients.”
Going for the gold
In the integrated campaigns division, Edra won a gold award for its work educating veterinary professionals around the world about vector-borne diseases. The campaign was produced for MSD Animal Health, a division of Merck & Co., Inc.
Managed by Edra’s Alexandra Koffler, the campaign consisted of a series of interactive digital whitepapers, downloadable whitepapers, infographics and an artistic book. These products were incorporated into the design of Merck Global’s World Congress of Veterinary Dermatology virtual convention booth, allowing attendees and visitors to view, access and download the whitepapers.
Edra also conducted a photoshoot to create original photographs specifically for this project and used custom designed illustrations.
The campaign’s aim was to make veterinarians aware of the growing risks of vector-borne diseases. Edra ensured that Merck Animal Health was featured as a leader in its commitment to address the threat of vector-borne diseases by providing educational materials and products backed by scientific evidence.
Merck Animal Health also selected seven key opinion leaders to write technical whitepapers focused on the most common vector-borne diseases in dogs, which Edra and Grupo Asis designed and digitally adapted.
Edra team members Belen Gonzalez, Pilar Puyalon and Carolina Rubio played roles on the production and design teams.
Bronze award for advertising
Duck & Partners won a bronze award for its work on a full-page print ad for Merck Animal Health Canada’s cattle vaccine portfolio.
The ad is one of several communications materials being developed as part of a comprehensive cattle vaccine awareness campaign steered by Duck’s Senior Account Director Katia Bisson.
“Although our first priority is – and always will be – to provide our clients with quality work that helps them and their brands shine, it is extremely gratifying for us to have our efforts recognized in this way by industry peers,” said Caroline Desforges, president of Duck & Partners. “We are grateful for this honor. And a big shout-out to our talented and hardworking team.”
This year’s win brings to three the total number of VETTY Awards presented to Duck & Partners in recent years.
