Food and animal safety company, NEOGEN Corporation, has received EPA expedited initial registration for distribution of its NEOGEN Viroxide Super disinfectant. The powder disinfectant is fast-acting and can be used against a number of bacteria and viruses, including viruses similar to COVID-19.
Viroxide Super is a disinfectant to be used for animal housing, associated surfaces, and related equipment. The powder is effective in dispatching canine parvovirus and Staphylococcus aureus.
"This initial, expedited approval from the EPA allows us to immediately offer NEOGEN Viroxide Super to help fight the spread of COVID-19, along with other industry-relevant viruses and bacteria," said John Adent, NEOGEN's President and CEO. "While it was primarily formulated for use in production, livestock, and companion animal facilities, as well as horticulture and aquaculture environments, it is also effective in helping protect the workers in those environments from the spread of diseases, such as COVID-19.”
According to NEOGEN, if used as directed to eliminate feline calicivirus, the disinfectant is effective against SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19. Active ingredients are potassium peroxymonosulfate and sodium chloride.
