Insecticide company for livestock facilities and farms, Neogen Corporation, has added to its Prozap line with a slow-release product for poultry and additional livestock populations. The microencapsulated insecticide takes aim at pests, including fleas, flies, litter beetles, and ticks.
The product, Prozap Gamma-Defense, is recommended for use in structures related to livestock animals. The active ingredient in the solution is gamma-cyhalothrin, a new and potent pyrethroid.
“Prozap Gamma-Defense is a powerful insect control solution for poultry producers,” said Coyee Hunt, an animal safety product manager at Neogen. “This formula is proven effective against adult and immature darkling, hide, and carrion beetles, common pests that can have a significant impact on poultry production. Prozap Gamma-Defense provides strong protection against pests while offering a versatile label for application and control of problem insects on the farm.”
The insecticide can be used in 21-day cycles, likely used at housing buildings during cleaning or between flocks of animals. The formulation can also be used as barrier protection.
