University of Florida triple Gator and UF College of Veterinary Medicine alumna Cassandra Fleming, M.S., D.V.M., was recognized as one of this year’s 2026 UF Alumni Association 40 Gators Under 40, an honor bestowed upon young, outstanding alumni whose achievements – both professional and service-oriented in nature – positively impact The Gator Nation.
Fleming earned her bachelor’s (‘08) and master’s (‘10) degrees in animal sciences from UF’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences before becoming a triple Gator by completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine education at UF CVM in 2014. During veterinary school, Fleming obtained certificates in both Veterinary Business Management and Food Animal Medicine, with a love for cows and an initial plan to enter dairy practice after vet school.
However, upon graduation, small animal medicine was calling her name. Fleming worked as an associate veterinarian for the first six years of her career before stepping into business ownership by establishing Springs Veterinary Services, a small, high-touch mobile practice, which she owned and operated for five years.
Today, she’s best known as “Dr. Cassi” on the North American Veterinary Community’s VetFolio Voice, the No. 1 podcast for veterinary continuing education. VetFolio is a renowned resource featuring hundreds of accessible, affordable, flexible and wide-ranging CE courses for the veterinary profession, from videos to webinars, articles and more.
Through her work at VetFolio, Fleming has the opportunity to collaborate with numerous industry experts creating relatable educational content focused on advancing the entire veterinary team to improve care and longevity for animals.
She now divides her time between her role with VetFolio and clinical care, largely in emergency medicine, while still maintaining a presence in primary care. She’s passionate about dentistry, internal medicine and critical care from a patient-care lens.
Above all, Fleming’s drive as a veterinarian and leader in the NAVC community comes from her belief in the importance of the human animal bond. She believes deeply in protecting the connection between people and the animals who share their lives.
Fleming will be honored at the college’s 2026 Commencement Ceremony on May 22 as a CVM Distinguished Award winner, as well as at the UF Alumni Association’s Alumni Weekend in June.
