The week of Oct. 16-22 is National Veterinary Technician Week, aimed at celebrating, recognizing and promoting the contributions credentialed veterinary technicians make to the veterinary profession and society.
Veterinary technicians are integral players on the veterinary healthcare team who compassionately work with clients whose beloved animals need care. They work tirelessly in exam rooms, labs and operating rooms, putting to work their vast technical and scientific knowledge treating and caring for every species of animal, according to a release from the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America. The technicians’ broad skills — professional and personal — allow veterinarians to work more efficiently and effectively.
Ashli Selke, RVT, CVT, and president of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians, said that one definition of resilience that veterinary technicians have shown a great ability to recover from or adjust to stress and change, especially over the last two years.
National Veterinary Technician Week 2022 launches on Sunday, Oct. 16, with raffles and prizes offered through the association’s social media sites.
Hill’s Pet Nutrition is the exclusive sponsor of National Veterinary Technician Week. In addition to providing funding for social media and public relations outreach, Hill’s field representatives will personally deliver posters and other goodies to 5,000 practices across the U.S.
“Resilience won’t make your problems go away,” Selke said. “But being resilient can give you the ability to see past your problems and better handle stress and change.”
