Petriage wins patent for triage technology
Veterinary telehealth provider, Petriage, has secured a patent for its teletriage system. The new patented platform offers its services to pets and people.
With the new patent, Petriage is planning to continue to develop is AI-based technologies, including triage and symptom analysis solutions. One of the goals in such development will be to expand the technologies to include human healthcare.
Like the existing triage system for pets, the technology would include a tool to remotely monitor patients, to connect patients for virtual appointments, and to analyze symptoms to pinpoint disease with information on how urgent seeking treatment would be.
"Our original impetus was to empower vets like me and provide their clients with peace of mind by leveraging AI to deliver remote patient care," said Dr. Allon Freiman, co-founder of Petriage and co-developer of the algorithm driving the technology. "But the 97%-plus accuracy of the AI-driven symptom analysis tool has exceeded what we initially envisioned."
The business-to-business pet health technology firm was awarded patent number 11355249, which is set to be issued on June 7th. The patent is the second for the company after it received an initial patent for a pet symptom analysis tool that works remotely.
