Hire My Dog platform to make the case for pets at work

Cesar, a Mars brand, has launched its “Hire My Dog” program intended to help pet owners advocate for making their workplace pet friendly. The app helps owners create profiles of their pets with information accessible to coworkers.

"Dogs deserve to be welcomed everywhere, and we know that pet-friendly workplaces can help boost employee morale, increase productivity and improve culture," said Jean-Paul Jansen, vice president of marketing for Mars Pet Nutrition North America. "The Cesar brand is all about shared moments between dogs and their pet parents. Our dogs are our best friends, and now, we're taking that to the next level and making it our true purpose to create a more dog-friendly world for pet parents and pet lovers everywhere."

The app is intended to help find new solutions as more office workers are going back to work, many having adopted dogs during the pandemic or having spent more time than ever with their pet while home. Based on a survey commissioned by the company, 89% of pet owners said spending time with pets during the workday was important. About 58% of respondents said dogs being at work made them happier and 57% said dogs reduced stress and anxiety.

With the app, pet owners can create a resume-style bio for their pet in an effort to highlight the benefits of having the pet in a workplace. The concept is based on the brand's earlier work with making cities more friendly to pets.
