Preventive veterinary care hospital network, Banfield Pet Hospital, has reached the milestone of caring for 150 million pets since 2000. The Mars Veterinary Health company has more than 3,600 veterinarians at 1,000 hospitals across 42 states. Across the next year, the company plans to increase the number of its hospitals.
“The human-animal bond has grown ever stronger, with over 23 million households welcoming a pet since the start of the pandemic. Our hospitals and associates have done an incredible job, stepping up to provide care to pets and their owners,” said Brian Garish, president of Banfield Pet Hospital.
“That's why Banfield is innovating and extending how and where we provide care, with more locations and unrivaled support for our veterinary professionals. With our size, scale, and commitment to societal wellbeing, Banfield and its talented Associates are empowered to continue to make a better world for pets.”
Another initiative for the company is preventive treatment for conditions including dental care, heartworm, parvovirus, and regular care. As part of that effort, the network will also attain the competition of 300 million heartworm treatments since 2000.
Over the past 10 years, the Banfield network has witnessed a reduction of 46% in the number of dogs diagnosed with heartworms, however, at the same time the rate for cats increased by 22%.
