Nonprofit veterinary association, North American Veterinary Community (NAVC), focuses 2022 on its stated theme: aiding animals in living more comfortable and longer lives with improved quality of life. The theme was integral at the annual meeting in January, the 39th Veterinary Meeting and Expo (VMX).
“VMX is where veterinarians and veterinary nurses and technicians learn the latest in veterinary medicine, diagnostics and treatments, so they can take this knowledge home to provide the best care possible for all animals. It is also the launchpad for major research and product introductions from the world's leading global veterinary companies and organizations,” said Gene O'Neill, chief executive officer of NAVC. “We are thankful for the more than 15,000 participants and attendees from our global veterinary community who helped make this another successful year.”
The year’s educational sessions, which were both in-person and virtual, covered a broad range of topics, including new therapeutic breakthroughs in oncology and emergency care. Under the focus of helping to maintain health as animals age, the most recent technology and treatments were discussed. Specific sessions focused on probiotics in evidence-based care, mitral valve disease in dogs, wound management in horses, anesthesia and surgical procedures for fish, and zoological surgery
