Last year marked the return of in-person veterinary conferences and reuniting with friends and colleagues was a welcome change from virtual continuing education (CE) seminars. As the new year gets under way, you need to start planning how you will fulfill your 2023 CE requirements. Veterinary conferences offering live and virtual learning opportunities abound, and we list some of the best.
Veterinary Meeting and Expo (VMX)
For VMX’s 40th anniversary, they are offering 40% off registration. VMX is the world’s largest veterinary conference, offering educational tracks for small animal, farm animal, equine, exotics, practice management, personal development, and veterinary nurse/technicians. The VMX Expo Hall boasts hundreds of exhibitors who will solve your problems with innovative and creative solutions. For an additional fee, attendees can attend “meet the professor” luncheons, hands-on workshops and labs, and behind the scenes tours. Midwest Veterinary Conference (MVC)
Hosted by the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, MVC is a growing, regional, three-day conference that every year brings together thousands of veterinary professionals from every discipline who can take advantage of educational, networking, and social opportunities. Highlights include cutting-edge topics for your entire veterinary team, renowned expert speakers from around the globe, unrivaled veterinary product and service exhibits, and the lowest price of any regional or national veterinary conference. Western Veterinary Conference (WVC)
WVC’s 95th annual conference offers more than 800 CE hours over four full days. Topics include small animal, food animal, avian and exotic, equine, practice management, and veterinary technicians. Attendees can increase their knowledge in learning lounges, workshops, symposia, industry seminars and, for an additional fee, hands-on labs. WVC’s keynote lunch speaker is actress, philanthropist, and producer Kristen Bell. Luncheon attendance requires a CE-conference badge and an RSVP. Other entertainment highlights include a Cirque Du Soleil performance, country music’s leading female artist, Ashley McBryde, and a veterinary technician reception. Other information includes:

World Veterinary Association Congress (WVAC)
Since 1863, the World Veterinary Association (WVA) has represented the global veterinary profession to connect veterinarians worldwide to share experiences, exchange ideas, and join forces to improve veterinary medicine. The 38th WVAC will explore fields in clinical veterinary medicine, veterinary public health, animal welfare, and academic research. More than 90 leading international speakers will cover 100 topics in 22 fields of interest. Other information includes:

American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Convention
More than 7,000 people attended AVMA’s 2022 convention in historic Philadelphia, and another 1,000 participated virtually and gained CE in a wide array of topics and disciplines. Veterinary professionals from all practice sectors gather at the AVMA Convention to learn, network, and advance their career. Alumni receptions help you reconnect with old classmates and find new friends, and exhibit hall events keep you up to date on the latest trends that you can implement in your practice. World Small Animal Veterinary Association Congress (WSAVAC)
The WSAVAC offers an opportunity for veterinarians from around the world to learn, share ideas, and forge relationships. The congress presents a cutting-edge scientific program that features global experts and includes events and initiatives to help build networks with regional veterinarians to improve veterinary professional development in the area. Social programs allow attendees to learn about and experience the local culture. WSAVAC’s large trade exhibition also helps build relationships between veterinarians and industry partners. Jenny Alonge received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Mississippi State University in 2002. She completed an equine medicine and surgery internship at Louisiana State University. After her internship, she joined an equine ambulatory service in northern Virginia where she practiced for almost 17 years.
