Guard Dog Pro entered the market in June, selling out of 10,000 units of its organic flea and tick spray and calming spray. Guard Dog Pro sells its products online and did not invest in traditional marketing or advertising prior to launch, according to the company, which attributes the response to interest in organic, locally sourced pet products.
“These products are really game-changing,” said Alex Sauceda, head of grooming at Petco. “I got to test them and recommended them to everyone I know, I’m surprised it took so long for something like ‘Guard Dog’ to hit the market! Not only are they proven to work, but the price is actually affordable.”
The two company founders were spurred to create the business after sharing their individual stories of pets dying after eating pet care products. The company claims that 100,000 pets die annually from ingesting chemicals in pet care products.
