The domination of the domestic pet care market is expected to continue. Purchasing pet food is necessary for most owners, and in the U.S., is also growing due to the presence of major global pet food brands, and due to an increase in spending and pet food advancement. With an increased number of pet adoptions during the pandemic and an uptick in the amount of money pet owners will spend coupled with an interest in specialty foods, the pet food market has experienced greater development and investment in advancement and retail.
The report highlights growing segments of the pet food market in the U.S., including electronic/online shopping options, specialty food on a small or large scale, and veterinary pet food.
The report was compiled based on an online survey conducted from January through September 2021, making the report inclusive of the trends brought on during the pandemic. The data was gathered via polls which were responded to by about 2,000 pet owners. Respondents were considered representative of the country based on age, gender, income, ethnicity and race, and geography.
