Wag app expands services to include veterinary consultation

Wag!, an app that connects users with pet sitter and dog walker services as well as providing training and care information, has expanded its services. The app now has added to its capabilities with wellness plans and “Vet Chat.”

"One-in-five households adopted a dog during the pandemic, resulting in thousands of new pet parents who are learning how to manage the many pet responsibilities that come with ownership," said Garrett Smallwood, chief executive officer of Wag! "Wag! has seen steady website growth to 5 million monthly users seeking breed-and-age specific pet wellness information as well as local pet-related city information.  This insight inspired Wag! to become the one-stop-shop for pet parents to access all the health and wellness services they need on-demand and on-the-go, in order to keep their lives running smoothly and remove some of the stress that comes with pet parenting."

Under the app’s wellness plan, select pet care is covered, such as diagnostic evaluations and shots. The plans are available at different tiers and are designed to help users spread out paying for routine care across the year. Wellness care is accessible through a monthly membership, ranging from $19.95 to $59.95 depending on coverage.

Additionally, veterinarians or veterinary technicians are available for pet care on-demand on a 24-hours-a-day basis. Visits are paid for individually or are included under a Premium membership.

"The introduction of Wag! Wellness Plans and Vet Chat brings our suite of service options to the next level, giving pet families the veterinary support they need on financially reasonable terms, especially the youngest generation of pet owners who are digitally savvy, live fast-paced lives, and want to remove some of the stress that comes with owning a pet," said Smallwood.
