Veterinary endoscopes market to grow

Reportlinker.com, a market analysis firm, has forecast that the worldwide market for veterinary endoscopes is expected to grow between 2021 and 2027. The market uptick was expected after the sector was slowed during the pandemic, leading to decreased demand, sales, and supply chain disruptions.

The continued growth in the market is anticipated based on the increased numbers of adopted pets, increased awareness of diseases affecting pets and respective treatments, advancing technologies in endoscopy, rising demand for minimally invasive procedures, and increased use of endoscopic devices by veterinary clinics. Endoscopes are most often used in diagnostics procedures such as viewing anatomical issues and obtaining tissue samples. In that regard, video-enabled endoscopy devices are expected to gain a strong share in the market.

Another driver in the use of endoscopes in veterinary medicine is an increased incidence of gastrointestinal disease in pets. The common ailments include edema, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, anorexia, and parasitic infection.

As the number of pet owners increases and the amount of money they are willing to spend on their pets, the need for devices is expected to grow. By animal type, the small animal is likely to grow at the largest rate, according to the report. By type of endoscope, the most commonly used by veterinarians in 2020 was rigid, usually used for viewing female urinary, nasal, and reproductive anatomy. When divided by application, in 2020, the most common use in veterinary care was diagnostic. Based on procedure, the segment dedicated to gastrointestinal tract endoscopy held the largest share by revenue in 2020.
