The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has added a new online certificate as part of a partnership with the bioengineering and veterinary medicine programs. The online certificate can be completed at an individual pace and will be based on AI uses through medical cases presented through machine learning. Credits are awarded from the Carle health system and the college of veterinary medicine.
The AI in Medicine certificate is offered as an interdisciplinary program of the Grainer College of Engineering, Carle Illinois College of Medicine, and the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. "We have created this program to meet an urgent need for AI training in the healthcare community," said Mark A. Anastasio, Donald Biggar Willett Professor in Engineering and head of the department of bioengineering.
The goal of the six-module program is to help clinicians become knowledgeable on the applications and execution of AI in healthcare and be able to collaborate with technology partners or vendors actively. The program is open to healthcare practitioners as well as veterinarians and veterinary technicians.
