NOVUS to share strategies to improve profitability in pork production at AMVEC’s Congress

Marcela García and Eduardo Molina will share strategies to improve profitability in pork production at the Mexican Association of Veterinarians Specialists in Pigs (AMVEC) LV National Congress on August 1-4, 2023, in Acapulco, México.

Garcia is the Swine Solutions manager for the Americas and Molina is executive regional sales manager for Latin America North.

According to a news release, intelligent nutrition from NOVUS is supporting producers who need to reduce pig production costs while maintaining product quality.

Through the Scale Up Program for Grow-Finishers, NOVUS helps producers by improving feed conversion ratio and optimizing performance in a sustainable manner.

MINTREX Cu can be supplemented at 50 ppm vs 150 ppm from TBBC or CuSO4 while seeing the same or improved performance. Grow-finishers fed MINTREX Cu are shown to experience:

  • Lower feed conversion by 3-5points over inorganic copper sources
  • Over $1 USD per pig return on adjusted feed conversion ratio
  • Over $2 USD per pig return on a closeout basis
  • 1 percentage point fewer removals
  • 60% less copper excreted into the environment.

The Scale Up Program for sows aims to optimize sow lifetime productivity, achieving more pigs per sow lifetime through improvements in gilt development, reproductive performance, structural integrity supporting sow longevity, and offspring quality and health.

Commercial and research trials featuring MINTREX bis-chelated trace minerals have shown positive sow performance including:

  • an average of three more weaned pigs per sow lifetime
  • + 0.4 weaned pigs/litter
  • Less sow and preweaning mortality
  • 9% more pork marketed per inventoried sow

Stop by the NOVUS booth during the event to hear how the Scale Up Program can make a difference for pork producers in Mexico.
