Petco Love, the non-profit arm of Petco, has pledged to donate $1 million to organizations working to aid pets and pet owners impacted by the invasion of Ukraine. The monies will be given to groups that rescue, shelter, and families leaving Ukraine, and aid in recovery.
"It is devastating to see families seeking refuge as they leave areas afflicted by war,” said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love. “The entire Petco family is heartbroken by the suffering and touched by the love Ukrainians have for their pets, often carrying them as they flee their homes and country for safety. So as a company, we joined together to engage our teams and guests to help save pets and support Ukrainian pet parents affected by this war. It is with love that we commit $1 million in support for immediate relief and long-term recovery.”
As needs for the pets and pet owners in and leaving Ukraine are expected to continue for some time, Petco Love is working with some non-governmental organizations that were embedded in the region prior to the conflict. These organizations include Four Paws International and Humane Society International.
Materials and supplies for veterinary care will also be provided to countries near Ukraine or EU countries that are expected to receive refugees. Additionally, some supplies are intended to aid in recovery efforts.
