ElleVet Sciences study finds 40% reduction in severity, frequency of seizures

A study investigating the results of ElleVet Sciences' CBD+CBDA oil and its efficacy on dogs with seizures found that 40% of the dogs enrolled in the study had a reduction in severity and frequency of seizures. Dr. Gabriel Garcia of the University of Florida Veterinary School led the research team, which conducted a two-year study examining three months of treatment in a randomized placebo blinded cross over study.
The paper, "Safety and efficacy of cannabidiol-cannabidiolic acid rich hemp extract in the treatment of refractory epileptic seizures in dogs," was published in July 2022 in Frontiers of Veterinary Medicine.
Amanda Howland, co-founder of ElleVet Sciences, said her team was not surprised by the positive results, based on similar findings with CBD use in the human realm. “What was surprising was the low dose that is needed of our full spectrum product compared to CBD isolate used in human studies," she said.
