From June 21 to 26, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) hosted the 26th edition of the Congress of the International Pig Veterinary Society IPVS (International Pig Veterinary Society). Boehringer Ingelheim did not miss an appointment that is considered one of the most important scientific events in the pig industry at an international level.
The company participated as a sponsor in a congress that, once again, brought together specialists from around the world in animal health, biosecurity, welfare, nutrition, and reproduction. In addition, he organized a previous symposium in which he addressed innovation and technology applied to the farm.
Active participation in the scientific program
Boehringer Ingelheim also took an active part in the scientific program, presenting 40 posters and a total of 11 oral communications.
Among them, Víctor Rodríguez, veterinary technical adviser at Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Spain, was in charge of giving an oral presentation entitled: "Can the treatment of sows during lactation help in the control of porcine proliferative enteropathy?". In his intervention, he explained how, in a positive multiplier to Lawsonia intracellularis, oral vaccination against Ileitis was able to improve the growth of sows during lactation, obtaining better results than with the use of medication.
Boehringer Ingelheim's participation in this congress demonstrates its interest in accompanying pig veterinarians, contributing to their technical training, and providing comprehensive solutions to the new challenges currently facing the sector.
